Z is for Zeal: Building Skills
Zeal is something I would love to see more of in this world. A real passion for something motivates people to greatness and leads them to excel in their field. Their excellence then serves to inspire others to do more and raise their standards higher as well. As a result, more and more people are giving their best and the world becomes a better place.
When a person is excited about something, they are motivated to be 'in the moment' and truly focus on what is in front of them. Because they are 'all in' they get more out of those moments. They experience more, take in more, learn, grow and develop further skills as compared to another person who is less motivated and only half invested in paying attention, if that. This commitment furthers their knowledge and skills. Their higher level then opens new doors to develop higher levels again as they expand on the solid foundation that they have built.
When you have more than just a taste for something, and you begin to really build your knowledge and skills in an area of passion, you open new opportunities AND you also stand out to others as an excellent candidate in that field. Your enthusiasm attracts others to you and gives you the chance to share all you know with them and spark their excitement for the field as well. Your zeal is appealing and makes you stand out in the crowd. That may further help you but it also helps those around you. When you shine, the world is a brighter place.
When you love what you are doing, you are passionate and enjoy your days. You have more energy to go to work and participate in your area of interest. You have more to give and you get more out of it too. You will provide service with a smile, put in the extra muscle to do the job well and spend the extra moments to teach others. Your task is meaningful to you and is your opportunity to give back to others in your area of expertise.
What are you zealous for? What is your area of passion? Engine design? Cake decorating? Horticulture? Nursing? Parenthood? Microscopy? Flying? Driving? Music? Sales? If you can work in the field you are passionate about, life will be much happier. If you have a job and/or find an area within that job where you can excel, you will be happier. If you are the cleaner who keeps the bathroom sparkling, people will appreciate your efforts and feel more comfortable at your workplace which reflects well on you as a worker. Cleanliness is important. If you are the technician who helps a senior figure out how to use the remote for their new television and you are excited about the features of this product and about helping others, you will guide them with a calmness and joy that will make a very frustrating moment a positive one. Not only would they get the help they needed, but they would have also spoken to someone kind and passionate who lifted them up.
Be that twinkling light in this world and teach your children how to build their skills in an area of passion so they too can shine. Help them find their place in this world that brings them joy and encourages them to share that joy with others too. Be the best at making soap or barbequing delicious steaks. Learn to share your conversational skills and heart with others. Show others you care. Just be enthusiastic. Give your best. Demonstrate your zeal for living. Let your passion transform the world.
