Welcome to Lucinda's Library Notes!

Welcome to my new blog!

I want to share with you my knowledge of how to help children with their language skills, whether it is taking in the information through reading and listening skills or through outward expression through speaking or writing skills.

                                 INPUT                                                        OUTPUT

AUDITORY            LISTENING                                              SPEAKING

WRITTEN              READING                                                  WRITING

My love of this topic has been applied in a variety of settings in my life.  I taught English as a second language, raised four sons who all required some form of speech therapy and then decided to join the field as a communications disorder assistant (a speech therapist diagnoses the issues and a CDA does the therapy). I work in childcare and tutor children as well.

Literacy matters and building skills in this area are beneficial and easily accomplished when you are intentional in small but consistent moments of life. This blog will cover a variety of topics such as how to build vocabulary, how to use tone of voice to create meaning and comprehension, how to use phonics activities and prediction and expansions along with a variety of other helpful suggestions.

Hope you find something useful as you journey along with me!
