InstrumentsFind or make a guitar, drums, shakers, xylophone, bells/chimes or trumpet and have fun being a
marching band as you sing and play along to your favourite songs.

IllustrationsYou can draw with pencils, crayons, markers and more.  Illustrate an idea or a story or just practice
lines and circles and scribbles, whatever is according to your ability.

Imaginative PlayInteract in make believe scenarios with dolls and dollhouses, stuffed animals, dress up clothes, doctor
kits, toy food and puppets, to name a few.  Use them to build conversations and play skills.

Impressions (sensory)Using playdough, scented clay, sand bins or boxes with beans you can make impressions with your
hands, sticks, cookie cutters, forks, shells, feathers and more to build your sensory experiences and
exploration of items.

InvestigationsThere are so many STEAM experiments that can be done together to investigate a variety of scientific
principles. Volcanos, bath bombs, cornstarch and water, Sink or float, Lights and shadows and
playdough recipes are examples.

Join in any type of fun in the snow to create great winter memories!

Incredible JourneyThe journey might not be like the dog in the movie but maybe a hike in nature or a day trip up north? 

Ice fishingChoose that or some other new winter hobby that gets you outdoors and trying something new is a

Ice skating with a friend:It is fabulous whether it is a leisurely glide across the ice, a dance fest on skates or an all out
competition in speed skating.

bowling and cardboard box creations.

Interactive video gamesEven if they are not typically your style, take time to connect with someone through an online game that
they enjoy.

Indian cooking dayPlan a cooking class with someone who knows how to prepare your favourite Indian dish.  You can
provide the ingredients and they can share their time and skills and then you can both enjoy eating the
meal together.

Ink blotsJust for fun, make ink blots with friends and then make it a game to talk about what they look like.  It is
somewhat like finding clouds in the sky.  What do you see?  Does a friend see the same? It is a great
activity to build descriptive vocabulary

I SpyThis game is great to be played any time and any place.  Whether in a line, on the bus or in the forest,
this game builds observation skills, comprehension of concepts and communication skills all while
having fun.  It is also a game where the parties can readily switch roles, taking turns in spying or in
guessing.

Identify animal or bird species or types of rocksStudy the similarities and differences and see which ones you can discover in your own backyard.  For
example, I didn't know giant woodpeckers were in our area until I identified one!

Instant PuddingThis is an example of a quick and easy recipe, something that can be made by a child for a dessert. It
offers positive experiences in the kitchen with family and is especially good for picky eaters or sensory
sensitive kids who need to be exposed to and learn to try new foods and textures.

Interesting FactsGo around the room and ask each person to share an interesting fact that they know.  For example,
Did you know the Indian rhinoceros lives 35-45 years and has a keen sense of smell?

Insect studiesLearn more about these little creatures and study them with magnifying glasses wherever you may find
them. Discover the features of insects.

Ice-based word activitiesWhat rhymes with ice? dice, lice, mice, nice, spice, rice, entice device, suffice.  What books have ice in
them? Frozen,Snow Queen and Omar on Ice. What game works on building up word families? Ice
Cream Sundaes.  You can also back up to just the letter I and think up words that begin with that letter.
 
Imitations: Think of some favourite cartoon characters or people and copy their voice or their actions and see if
others can guess who it is. The attempts are often quite hilarious and provide fun memories as you
enjoy a good laugh together.

Italian Food Night:  Have an Italian food night with pizza, pasta and spumoni!  Perhaps the children can help in preparing the meal! Might as well learn a new word in Italian too!
